Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed) announces partnership with Japan Federation of Medical Devices Associations (JFMDA)
The first and only regional MedTech trade association signs Memorandum of Understanding in Tokyo with Japan’s foremost national federation

Tokyo – The Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed), representing manufacturers and suppliers of medical equipment, devices and in vitro diagnostics, as well as national industry associations, strengthens ties with Japan's largest medical device promoting body, the Japan Federation of Medical Devices Associations (JFMDA).

Founded over three decades ago, JFMDA comprises 21 associations, jointly representing over 4000 companies; it plays a critical liaison role between industry players in Japan and government agencies.

This partnership will cement the central role of the Singapore based regional trade association, as it seeks to support national trade associations in their regional outreach efforts, bringing them closer to key stakeholders across Asia Pacific, from regulators to government officials, and of course industry peers.

Fostering regional cooperation around regulatory harmonisation and convergence will be a significant area of focus. The associations will also collaborate to nurture relationships with the scientific community, holding joint conferences and symposiums.

Koji Nakao, JFMDA Chairman and Corporate Advisor, Terumo Corporation said: “We are delighted to be entering into a more formal collaboration with APACMed. The associations’ region-wide reach and expertise will undoubtedly add value to our own member organisations”.

“We are truly honoured to be signing this MoU with JFMDA, a federation whose status and influence in Japan is unparalleled. We hope to make a significant collective impact, in further advancing our common mission to improve patient outcomes in Japan and across the region”, said Fredrik Nyberg, Chief Executive Officer, APACMed.
