Keeping in line with the pressing need for solutions to tackle climate change, the theme of this year’s One-North Festival is “The Future of Everyone: Innovating for a Sustainable Planet”.

As said by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport & Ministry of Communications and Information at the opening address, “(climate change) is an existential challenge”. Citing the increasing waste challenges and the reduction in recycling rates over the last 40 years.

“But all is not lost if we start doing something now. Science, together with innovation and technology, can contribute to Singapore’s sustainability efforts.”

The yearly event organized by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), JTC and Science Centre Singapore, opens up to the public to the innovative and wondrous world of science and technology through captivating performances and talks by scientists, as well as tours of A*STAR laboratories.

The event featured range of interactive activities such as X-periment! by Singapore Science Centre which celebrates the latest developments in science and technology for a sustainable future.
