IMCD Group, a leading specialty chemicals and food ingredients company, has signed an agreement to acquire all activities of PT Alam Subur Tirta Kencana, a Jakarta-based leading food ingredients distributor. With this acquisition, Rotterdam-based IMCD Group also makes its entry into Indonesia.

Under this deal, IMCD will also acquire Alam Subur's affiliated company PT Sapta Permata at Surabaya, Indonesia.

Mr. Eduard Utama, founder of Alam Subur, says: “We are delighted with our partnership with IMCD. This will enable us to grow further. We will benefit from sharing best practices and know-hows and will be able to expand our product offering”.

Alam Subur is a leading distributor and supplier for food and beverage ingredients with offices and warehouses in Jakarta. It also supplies nutraceutical & pharmaceutical ingredients. Founded in 1999, the company currently employs about 100 employees, comprising sales and marketing, technical and administration staff.

Commenting on the acquisitions, Mr. Albert Stevens, Vice President Asia for IMCD Group, said: “This is an important step in the realization of our strategy in the largest and fastest growing country of Southeast Asia, where we foresee tremendous growth prospects. Alam Subur's expertise and knowledge of a diverse and huge market like Indonesia will be an asset for our expansion strategy.”

Business partners of Alam Subur have been notified of the change and IMCD will ensure a smooth business transition, with no disturbance to Alam Subur's current activities. All employees of Alam Subur will transfer to IMCD. Mr. Utama will continue to lead IMCD Indonesia.
