Meeting clinical needs in Asia with HealthTech
Developing the next generation of health technology innovators


Launched in 2010, the Singapore-Standford Biodesign programme is modelled after the Biodesign Programmes at Standford University aimed at nurturing and providing future health technology innovators in Singapore and Asia the resources toward commercialization.

In a gathering of HealthTech innovators and leaders, the Singapore Biodesign Thought Leaders Series (TLS) held on October 2019 focused on the theme of “Ophthalmic Innovations in Asia” and was sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Visioncare. With 62 percent of global population afflicted blindness and moderate-severe visually impaired living in three regions of Asia, demonstrates the paramount importance of innovation in HealthTech to empower early screening, diagnosis, and intervention.

In the opening keynote, Ms Bebe Teo highlighted the opportunities in Asia Pacific and the need for innovation to tackle growing eye health issues. The panel discussion moderated by Professor Wong Tien Yin, gave further insight in both an industrial and clinical perspective to eye health in Asia Pacific, suggesting ways for HealthTech innovators to play their part to fulfil eyecare needs.
